SWEET. SWEETER. SWEETEST.

Sweet // Sweeter // Sweetest

I'm not usually a dangly earring type. I much prefer the simplicity of my Lena Wald pyramid studs that I've worn every day for 7 years. However, for a special occasion, like the wedding I'm a bridesmaid in coming up, with it's old Hollywood vibe; these are just what I'm looking for. Also the price is just so good. Which are your favorites?

TWO THINGS

one. my dear friend Teissia of Firefly Events is looking for two amazing interns in NYC. If you've been wanting to break in to the wedding planning business and learn from the best, this would be an incredible opportunity. Check out Firefly's blog, First Fête for more info on how to apply.

two. here in LA, a few of my friends have put together a series of craft nights called Midsummer Nights Crafts hosted by Shelter Half. It looks like so much fun, I'm dying to attend. There is limited space, so make sure to RSVP. Check out the blog for more information.

GUEST POST // 5 TRAVEL ESSENTIALS

While I'm spending the week in Marin, my dear friend Teissia of Firefly Events has sweetly agreed to share a guest post. Teissia is an amazing wedding planner and since she travels for work constantly I asked her to share her 5 travel essentials. Thanks for stopping by Teiss!
1. Wedding Magazines (Martha Stewart Weddings, InStyle Weddings, Brides, New York Weddings). The airplane is the best place to stay up to date on the latest wedding trends.
2.  Essie Mojito MadnessThis color is perfect for summer and I always have it with me in case I need a touch up. I can't tell you how many chips I get in my nails in transit or when I'm working a wedding.
3.  Steamline LuggageSince I plan a lot of destination weddings I am often traveling with my clients and it's super important that my suitcase be as stylish as the weddings I plan.
4. Viscid WatchI can't travel without a watch (telling time on my phone just doesn't cut it for me) and this watch is great because it's stylish AND light! Something that's super important to me when I'm on the road and working.
5. Corium Zipper Pouch. This pouch is perfect for cosmetics or jewelry and I love the geometric pattern.

FIRST FÊTE

My dearest friend Teissia gets into town today from New York and will be staying with us for the next few days. I haven't seen her in far too many months and I can hardly wait for catch up time and late night chats on the porch. For those of you that don't know, Teissia is an incredible wedding planner and owner of Firefly Events. These photos are from a recent inspiration shoot she did, photographed by the talented Jana Williams. Firefly just launched a blog called First Fête, where they share wedding ideas and DIY's. I urge you to take a look.

HOW PINTERESTING

Have you joined Pinterest yet? It has become a tool I rely on for blogging, decorating my home and just general inspiration. I love looking through my pins and finding common themes. It tells me a little about my mood or what I've been finding "pinteresting". My pins of late have been quite romantic, don't you think?--

What is "pinteresting" to you at the moment?

SWEET STYLE. MARIN WEDDING

Our weekend in Marin, although short, was exactly what I needed. The weather and the scenery couldn't have been more beautiful. The wedding was held at James' families ranch, which is a breathtaking property near Point Reyes. It was quite windy that day but the sun peaked out of the clouds just as the wedding began and warmed us up just enough. I wore one of my favorite rebecca taylor dresses and some wedges to keep me from sinking in to the dirt. James and I went over to say hi to Oliver {the horse} and snap a few photos before the reception began...

SPENCER STUDIO

My friend Lauren of the sphinx & the milky way recently launched Spencer Studio, a site showcasing the art and design she has been commissioned to do for weddings. She specializes in watercolor, but you might remember her incredible sculptures here. Lauren is an insanely talented artist and I just adore her work. She even hand painted the hawk feather that lives above Sweet Thing. Her website shows some of her previous work as well as invitation and save the date ideas. She used some of her friend's names as "the couples" and James and I are lucky enough to be included {we're the 3rd one down}! So no, we are not actually engaged. If you are a bride looking for a personal and unique invite then look no further...

A SWEET WEDDING IN MARTHA STEWART WEDDINGS

This week I am mixing up the usual "sweetest day", because I wanted to share some exciting news {you already know if you follow me on twitter}! The summer issue of Martha Stewart weddings is out and my dear friend Lilly's absolutely stunning wedding {you might remember it here} has a whopping ten page spread. Not only do I love flipping through and remembering the day and all the creative details, but I AM IN IT! At the wedding the Martha Stewart team pulled me aside to photograph me "reading the menu." I have been crossing my fingers ever since that I actually make it in the magazine and  my dream came true! To top it all off, my friend Lauren of the sphinx and the milky way {remember her from here, here and here} made it in as well! I will forever cherish this magazine and the memories of this day...

A SWEET WEDDING. THE HEADLANDS

I came across the dreamiest wedding on Green Wedding Shoes the other day and I have not been able to stop thinking about all the lovely details. The feather cutouts are my favorite- Swoon! Might have to steal that idea for a party or something. She even has the ornaments I bought from Kate's Paperie displayed. She is a girl after my own heart...

SWEET STYLE. A MARTHA'S VINEYARD WEDDING

When I'm attending a wedding, It's hard to balance the urge to photograph everything in sight and also enjoy myself. This time I did my best to do just that. Honestly, I only wish I had photographed more people at the wedding, the outfits were so inspiring (like the bride, wow did she look amazing). There just wasn't enough time to get every shot I wanted. I left that to the talented wedding photographer Tec Petaja.

Something very exciting happened while James was photographing me in the mirror below...Martha Stewart Weddings pulled me aside to photograph me "reading" the menu. Ahhhhh!!! Let's cross our fingers and hope I get in the magazine. That would be dreamy. With no further ado, the wedding...

{Here are the napkins we made! In case you missed it, see how to make them here}
The wedding was not only incredibly beautiful, it was loving, intimate and most of all fun. Perfect really. L <3 C

MARTHA'S VINEYARD WEDDING. SNEAK PEAK

Well hello there! I am back from an incredible week in Martha's Vineyard. Sigh. I want to thank Alisha Blanchard for guest posting while I was away. Thanks darling!
I have some fun posts coming up...the wedding, sweet style and even a "how to." Very exciting. Anyway since I just got in late last night, I need today to filter through the 400+ photos we took. Here is a little sneak peak of the wedding...

Come back tomorrow for more photos from Martha's Vineyard. xx

WEDDING WEAR. AUTUMN

My family, boyfriend and I are all off to Martha's Vineyard tomorrow for one of my closest friend's weddings. She has known me since the day I was born and is practically family, so I'm sure to shed a few tears. I've been looking forward to being in Martha's Vineyard in September for a while. It will be fun and different to see my favorite island a little calmer and cooler.
It took me a while to find the right dress for this occasion. There were more than a few variables...I knew it would be chilly at night, so I looked for a maxi dress, we'd be on grass, meaning wedges preferably, I also didn't want anything too trendy or fancy. Alas I found my dress, and it was on sale. Hooray! I promise to take photos while I am there!
While searching for me, I came across an array of wedding appropriate garbs suitable for any and every type of girl...

Earthy: Silken Stitches Dress $168, Elegant: Watercolor Folds Dress $348, Vintage: Mullany Dress $258

Some Sweet and Sparkly Accessories...

{I'll be posting while I'm in MV and there will be some fun guest posts too, so stay tuned! xx}

CRAFTING DAY. NAPKINS

My dear friend Lilly (actress and owner of Nell's Compass Candles) recently had a crafting day for her upcoming wedding. I knew it was something I had to share with you, so I photographed the event.
Lilly had this amazing idea to stencil her wedding napkins with places, dates and words that had significance to her and her fiance {and ordered them from Stencilease}. We had so much fun making them, we thought we should start our own napkin business.

What you'll need:
Napkins
Laughter
North by Northwest (the first movie they saw together)
1. Place the stencil on the bottom left hand corner of the napkin
2. Dab brush in paint and start painting. Hold down stencil firmly to make sure there is no bleeding.
3. Carefully remove stencil and voila!

Happy Weekend! xx
