I have a very special guest DJ today- my boyfriend James. One of the things that sparked a friendship and later a relationship with my boyfriend is music. He has killer taste and I do hope you'll give this mix a listen...
All of my mixes are inherently driving mixes, which is a shame considering this mix is for a blog, not a cd - But hey - iPhones! Its almost all 2011 music - except for a couple choice gems snuck in, in case you haven't heard em before. Enjoy please!

SWEET STYLE. A GRAY DAY

We had the most amazing time in Marin this past weekend. We got to do non stop cuddling with the most adorable babies and I got the autumn weather I've been dreaming of. It seems the only time we can photograph style posts these days is when we go out of town. It's as good a time as any I guess, since the backdrops are ever changing. On this day, we drove to the Tomales Bakery for cheese sticks and hot apple cider and then later stopped by Hog Island Oyster Co. for some of my favorite kumamotos. It was drizzling and the trees were covered with the most vibrant red and orange leaves. I was in heaven...

LATELY

Today I am writing from Marin, where the boy and I are spending the next few days with his family. It has been such a pleasure to spend quality time with his three nieces. Babies are so full of wonder and excitement, which is completely infectious. I know James and I will both be sad when Sunday rolls around and we have to head home. In the meantime, here are a few things of late that have made me stop and smile...

  • Weekend trips to two of my favorite places, Ojai and Marin.

  • Rediscovering my vintage 1920's gold purse in the attic.
  • An autumnal bouquet of fuchsia and burgundy blooms.

  • Persimmons making their way into markets.
  • Baking popovers {recipe here} to go along side my favorite butternut squash soup {recipe here}.

Happy Weekend! xo

SWEET STYLE. THATCHER ROAD

The boy and I decided to drive up to the bay area last night to see both of his sister's and their new babies. I am so excited to spend the weekend cuddling with his one month and one week old nieces. Lucky me!
Speaking of babies, here is a little look at what I wore to Lilly's baby shower. It was 88 degrees in Ojai that day, so I decided to wear an old favorite- my leopard dress from Zara {you might remember it from the Glitter Guide Launch Party}. I love the quilted texture of the dress and the feminine shape. It is definitely one of those pieces you can dress up or down which always comes in handy...

Annie Hall is not only one of my favorite movies, but a constant source of style inspiration. The quirky, menswear inspired outfits Diane Keaton wears in the movie still feel modern over thirty years later. Now what do you think, should we try and bring back the vest?

A VINTAGE HALLOWEEN

We managed to snap a few photos of my Halloween costume last night before my camera battery died. I hadn't planned on going out so this costume was very last minute. I am not even sure what I am exactly, a girl from the 40's?

I bought this dress eight years ago and never wore it. I completely forgot I even had it. I am so in love with the gold studs and 40's silhouette. My love of vintage shopping always pays off come Halloween!

**if you want to get this 40's hairstyle check out my tutorial for Glitter Guide

BABY LOVE

I had truly an amazing day at Lilly's baby shower in Ojai this past weekend. Grandmother to-be Mary thought of every detail, it couldn't have ben more beautiful. She even made those adorable centerpieces herself!

We were all chatting at the shower about how much can change in a year, and it's crazy to think how much has changed for Lilly. She got married, had her 30th birthday and now she is having a baby! Lilly is my oldest friend in the world, and it has been a pleasure to see her though such monumental moments. If you'd like to take a look back at some of them, I will be posting links at the bottom.

LATELY

These last few days have started to feel fall like in LA which is a nice change from the 90 degree heat of last week. The colder temps have got me craving dinners at home, movie nights with the boy and hot tea. Here is a little look into my life of late and a few of the things making me smile...
  • Taking a moment to enjoy the autumn light shining through turning leaves.
  • My new glasses from Bonlook that have not left my face since they arrived.

  • Buying pretty cards for some upcoming birthdays and baby showers at Urbanic. They have the best selection of cards, wrapping paper and gifts. I spend way too much money here!
  • Trying to make the best of the recent heatwave, by spending the day at a friend's pool (yes I have the chubbiest feet ever).

  • Ingredients for a comforting, homemade pasta dinner with one of my oldest and dearest friends.
  • Listening to some of my favorite records with my favorite guy.
I am thrilled the weekend is finally here because I am headed up to Ojai for Lilly's baby shower. I can't wait to spend time with my family, some of my favorite ladies and celebrate Little Miss Walton of course. Happy Weekend! xx

Just a few things that would look quite nice in my house. Since I work mostly from home, decorating and making my space aesthetically pleasing is extremely important to me. I have always been someone who can't focus on work, etc. unless my house is clean, well put together and reflects me. When it's not, I feel totally chaotic. I'm sure I sound a little intense, but believe it or not my sometimes OCD tendencies have lessened as I have gotten older. What about you, do you get consumed with your space being a certain way?
