MARTHA'S VINEYARD. FLEA AND FARMERS MARKETS

Now that I am back, I have been able to edit through all my photos of MV and NY. There are lots to come, but I thought I would start with my first day on island.
While I was in Martha's Vineyard my mom and I got to spend some time at the flea market and the farmer's market. Here are some photos of my finds...

The Chilmark Flea Market ~ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Wednesdays and Saturdays through September 4, 2010.  
Location: North road field across from the old schoolhouse. Between Tabor House and Tea Lane...closer to Tea Lane. Approximately three miles on the left from State Road and approximately three miles on the right from Menemsha Crossroad.

The West Tisbury Farmer's Market ~ Saturdays 9-12, June 12- October 9, Wednesdays 9-12, June 23- August 25
Location: located at the beautifully restored Old Agricultural Hall, also known as the Old Grange on 1067 State Rd, West Tisbury MA 02568

GUEST POST. INDIAN AND TURKISH TOWELS

I recently bought this gorgeous multi-colored Turkish towel (fauta Honeycomb) at a great shop on Abbot Kinney In Venice. Currently I'm using it as a blanket on my couch because its too special to use as a towel & thick & cozy enough to be a blanket! It adds a pop of color to my living room and at $68 bucks not too bad to pull out each Spring and Summer...



I discovered a great website selling beautiful, breezy, gauzy Indian towels that are perfect for summer & all the guests you hope to have traipsing through the house. The prices are super duper cheap and include shipping all the way from India! I ordered my fair share of bath & hand towels and cannot wait until they arrive. I must say they are slow at shipping because they are hand made. They state on their site- Kara is a creative venture with a social cause, born out of the felt need to give the Kerala handloom industry a much-needed impetus.We are a group of women who work with independent teams of weavers across the state and small sets of rural tailors to create handmade home furnishings of the highest finish and quality...


I'm always happy to support women trying to better themselves!

ROY LICHTENSTEIN AT THE GAGOSIAN NYC

I am having so much fun in NYC, minus the the airline loosing my bag for the first 13 hours and the extreme heat. I will never get used to the humidity here, or at least my hair wont.

The boyfriend and I went to the Gagosian Gallery the other day to check out an exhibit of his favorite artist, Lichtenstein. The exhibit is running through July 30th so if you happen to be in NYC, there is still time to see it. It's a collection of still lives, which to be honest, I had no idea he had so many. We snuck in a few instax photos while we were there and I am thrilled with the result. I had to share...

I don't want my Martha's Vineyard trip to end, but alas it ends today. I have had the most incredible week jam packed with beaches, boating, friends, family and eating. Luckily I am off to NYC for a fun four day stop before I head back to LA. Yippee! I also have some photos and tidbits from my trip yet to post. Here is a little sneak peak of what's to come...

I stumbled across this wonderful photographer when I was mindlessly browsing google for childrens photographers. Her images are wonderful and whimsical and remind me of an idyllic country life. Being both a mother & a photographer I'm always trying to improve my skills (in both areas believe me!) snapping inspired and in the moment shots of my daughter. Its a hard job! Mandy Lynn has a unique ability to capture the essence, time & space of the moment. I threw in a couple of wedding shots for good measure.


She is obviously very creative & her use of light is awesome. Here is a round up of 10 shots that made me think of summer...sitting in a swing drinking lemonade from a mason jar on a wrap around porch somewhere in the country! Ahhh summertime in the countryside...Heaven.

Hope you all had a lovely 4th of July! I'm on Martha's Vineyard and it is so lush and gorgeous. The weather has been perfect. When I am on the island I can't help but notice the preppy New England look, the J Crew catalog look-a-like, I sail and play lacrosse in my free time, salmon pink wearing style. At least half the Island dresses that way and I must say, I kind of love it. You never see that in Los Angeles. The other half of the Island is a mixture of styles, a little hippie, a little Jackie O. and a little sporty. MARTHA'S VINEYARD STYLE. HOME

As you know, I am off to Martha's Vineyard today and I cannot wait to be there and breath in the sweet air. The Vineyard (that's what the locals call it) has some serious style when it comes to the incredible island homes. I simply adore the weathered shingled and the classic beachy look. Most homes look straight out of a Nancy Meyers Movie.

RAPID LASH

I am one of the many who was not blessed with sky high lashes. I have been secretly using a lengthening serum called Rapid Lash the last month and guess what, it works! 

The best part is Rapid Lash is over the counter and on Amazon for only $28.28. You apply once daily before bed. BTW you can also use it on your eyebrows. It took a month for me to start seeing results but they are definitely getting longer. I can't wait to see what they look like next month. I should really start taking pictures!

DREAMING OF MARTHA'S VINEYARD

The boyfriend and I are leaving for Martha's Vineyard on Friday (with a little stop in NYC) for a total of 11 days and it can't get here fast enough! I have been going to Martha's Vineyard every summer with my family since I was 6 years old. Our house is in Menemsha, a small fishing village on the north-west side of the Island. It is truly one of the most magical places in the world. Here are some photos of The Vineyard from years past...
( I think this year it's time to bring the holga and the instax!)
A few sweet things about Martha's Vineyard...the beaches, boating, Chilmark Chocolates, lobster rolls, Larsen's Fish Market, lightening storms, the Aquinnah cliffs, the gingerbread cottages, Flying Horses, The Chilmark Store, seeing dear friends. I could go on and on. Sigh!

After reading the definition of romp, it is no wonder I love wearing rompers so very much. When I put one on I want to partake in all the things above.
