WANT/NEED

I have been eying this Rebecca Taylor charcoal velvet blazer for quite some time, but the $495 price tag is a not an option. The Newport News version is not quite as luxurious, but for $45 you can't beat it. Hmm, I wonder if it looks this good in person? I do prefer the quilting on the more expensive version and the one button apposed to the three, but you could buy eleven NN jackets for the price of the RT version...

NEED: Newport News Belted Velvet Blazer on sale for $44.99

EMMY FASHION

I must admit, this year at the Emmys I was kind of underwhelmed in the fashion department. But instead of focusing on the fashion don'ts, I thought I would focus on the do's. Reading all of the Emmy related tweets last night, it became clear that everyone has their own opinion when it comes to Emmy gowns. But that's the fun of it, fashion is personal. It's how some of us express ourselves.

Here is a sampling of my fashion favorites...

Wow! Rose Byrne made my jaw drop in Gucci. This Grecian inspired gown is modern with the cutouts and the gold accents. By far my favorite of the night.

I know there are a lot of haters out there, but I loved Keri Russell in this bright pink vintage Jean Louis Scherrer. It's kind of disco meets bohemian. Only complaint...I wish the top fit her better.
I don't know who made this dress Kristen Wiig is wearing, but it is gorgeous. I have a feeling it wont be an Emmy favorite, but I would wear this in a heartbeat. If only. Sigh.
And last but not least, Kyra Sedgwick looking stunning in Monique Lhuillier. I love the plum color and the collection of bangles on her arm. Congrats on the win Kyra! You are gorgeous!

SWEET STYLE. CATALINA IIII

James and I had a ridiculously good time taking these photos around Avalon. I dressed in my vintage Palm Beach granny shorts, just had a feeling they would look great in photos. These are the last of the Catalina series, hope you enjoy...

SWEET STYLE. CATALINA III {THE WEDDING}

The weather on the day of the wedding couldn't have been more beautiful, but I knew it would get chilly later. I decided a maxi dress would be best for an evening ceremony and reception on the water. The wedding was gorgeous and heartfelt. I was so happy to share all the love with James and my parents...

MONDAY BLUES

We're back from a gorgeous wedding weekend in Catalina. James and I went a little crazy with the picture taking, so I promise some fun posts to come. The wedding was lovely and the couple couldn't be cuter!
I must admit I am feeling the Monday blues after such a fun weekend. The one thing that helps me through Mondays is Malo $1 taco night and you better believe I will be there later inhaling chips and habanero and cream salsa. Wow I already have a smile on my face.
While I take some time to edit through the weekends photos, I thought I would leave you with some adorable shots from September's Vanity Fair (the last one's my favorite)...

ISLAND DREAMING

James and I are headed to Catalina Island today for a friend's wedding. Catalina is a beautiful island just 22 miles off the coast of Los Angeles. This is my last trip of the summer and I want to soak it up. I saw these photographs from July's Marie Claire Turkey, taken on the Greek Island of Symi and they got me dreaming of my island weekend. I love all the muted tones...

I'll be back next week with Catalina photos to share.
Have a lovely weekend!!! xx

I woke up to an email from Madewell this morning alerting me of their summer sale going on now. I checked it out online and there are so many things I've had my eye on. ERIN WASSON. TEXAS STORY

These stunning images of Erin Wasson from Elle Italia Aug. have been circling the web and I had to share them. They were taken in her home state of Texas by the photographer David Mushegain. These images make me want to hop on a plane to Texas immediately. Doesn't it look like they had so much fun?!

FALL FOOTWEAR

I think fall is the most fun shoe season. Ankle boots, over the knee boots, clogs and Victorian style lace ups are all on trend for this fall. Here is some fall footwear that caught my eye, and nothing is over $200!..

DESIGNER LOVE. JASON WU

While watching the finale of Work Of Art last week, all I could think about was the gorgeous Jason Wu dress China Chow was wearing from his spring 2010 collection...

Jason Wu is one of my favorite designers right now. His dresses are beautiful, ethereal and glamorous. There is no wonder why he is a celebrity, and first lady favorite. He is out of my price range by a lot, but a girl can dream, sigh! Here are some of my favorite Jason Wu frocks...

Diane Kruger never looked more beautiful then at the SAG Awards in the mustard colored gown above. Camilla Belle looks outrageously gorgeous in red at the Met Costume Institute Gala.

LONNY INSPIRATION

There are lots more beautiful images in the new Aug/Sept issue of Lonny Mag. I was most inspired by cover girl and interior designer Callie Jenschke's upper west side studio and Johnathan Adler Store Curator, Ben Brougham's Hell's Kitchen studio. Both haven't let their small spaces hold them back from maximizing on style...

SWEET STYLE. LAS VEGAS

I had an incredible time last weekend in Las Vegas, for my friend's bachelorette weekend. It began with a road trip filled with salty snacks and lots of laughs. We stopped at this road side restaurant to stretch our legs. When we got to the hotel, fruit, cheese and champagne were waiting our arrival...

Saturday we spent by the pool...

A sweet end to a delicious brunch at Simon...

JOHN DERIAN FOR TARGET

John Derian is one of my favorite designers of furniture and accessories for the home. His pieces are inspired by antiques and far off places and fit right in with my aesthetic.
He has once again collaborated with Target to design a more affordable line of home accessories all under $25. This collection hits stores on September 5th and I think I want one of everything (Let's just hope this doesn't turn in to another Cynthia Vincent/Target disaster)...

Trays:$1.99-$16.99

Notebooks:$2.50-4.99, Storage Book:$7.99

Coasters:$12.99 for set of 4, Picture Frames:$9.99
