ARROW THROUGH MY HEART

I love the image of an arrow. I even love the way it sounds to say arrow. Ok, I am obsessing a little, so I thought I would share some of my favorite arrow items from where else? Etsy.

Arrow Jewelry
I love a simple pair of gold stud earrings. These ones from LiamofYork for $70.
This 14carat gold bent arrow ring   by PoisonAppleNYC is only $32. The size is adjustable, so you could switch it from finger to finger.
This arrow lariat by chainchainchained is $28. Love the way this looks resting on her decolletage. Simple and sexy.

Arrows for the Home
These vintage arrows look so cool displayed in the home. Look up vintage arrows on Etsy or Ebay and you might find something like this:
These beauties are from the sudaytimesmarket on Etsy for $40. Yes please!

I HEART THE ACE HOTEL

It looks like I will be making two visits to The Ace Hotel in the next few weeks. One in NYC and one in Palm Springs. Lucky me! The Ace Hotel is a boutique hotel chain with locations in Palm Springs, New York, Portland and Seattle. I'm off to New York City with the boyfriend at the end of the month and I can't wait to stop by The Ace NY for a cocktail. It hold sentimental value since I started to fall for him at that very hotel back in December. Sigh.
The Ace NYC was a winner for the best of the year 2009 merit award for interior design by Roman and Williams, and I can see why. The lobby is vintage-modern, almost cabin-like, with touches of taxidermy and Americana. I could spend hours here sitting with a stumptown coffee (NY's version of Intelligentsia), pretending to read a paper but really people watching.
The rooms are kind of like hip dorm rooms. Each one is unique though. Most have record players and a collection of vinyl for your hipster pleasure.

After I pop in to the new Opening Ceremony that opened on the ground floor of The Ace back in February, I will have to grab a sub from No. 7 Sub also inside The Ace. With ingredients like pickled blueberries and crushed up bbq potato chips, I simply must have one!

For all you old school hip hop lovers, Q-Tip (of A Tribe Called Quest) spins at The Ace NY every Friday starting at 10pm in the Liberty Hall. This totally appeals to the 16 year old me. I had the biggest crush on Q-Tip and I stand by my claim that he has the second sexiest voice next to Caleb Folowill of Kings of Leon.       _______________________________________________________
A week later I'm off to the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. Wow, I am jealous of myself. I sound like such a jetsetter! Both of these hotels are a photographers dream. Visually there is something beautiful and quirky at every turn. I can't wait to get out the red Holga!

The Ace Palm Springs was once an old Howard Johnson's motel from the late 60's. The geniuses at Commune (a Los Angeles design firm), transformed it into a haute-bohemian paradise. The rooms are quite reasonably priced by Palm Springs standards, and the entire hotel is run off solar power. Chic and environmentally friendly, love it!

Make sure to stop by The Ace bar, The Amigo Room for a Figa (a house-infused fig vodka with earl grey tea and honey tangerine) and hop in the b&w photo booth. Don't miss The Cotija Off The Cob (Mexican corn with cotija cheese, lime and cayenne) at The Ace restaurant, The Kings Highway. It is amazing!
Check out The Ace Hotel's Twitter for hotel deals and updates.

LUNA BAZAAR

Luna Bazaar has been my go to website for lanterns and candle holders for years. Known for their wallet friendly wedding and party supplies they are a one stop shop for candle holders, vases, lanterns, parasols, luminaries, etc. Here are a few of my favorites...

The accordion Chinese lanterns are only $1.75 each. I have mine lining the roof over my porch. They also look great hung in a tree.
The rice paper votives are only $3.50 each and they come in a variety of colors and patterns. Loving the ikat votive!

How beautiful would this white paper bag luminary be lining the path to your next party?! A pack of 4 is just $3.95. They even sell flameless LED tea light candles to go inside for $1.95.

LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING

I was blown away by this engagement photo session I saw on Greenweddingshoes. It was taken by the talented Clayton Austin of San Antonio, Texas. His work is truly stunning! He is a fellow romantic, which is clear from these photos and this sweet advice he gave to a female friend going through a break up. It is so beautiful I had to share it!...

"Find a boy who calls you beautiful, not hot. Who calls you back when you hang up on him. Who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat, or will stay awake just to watch you sleep. Wait for the boy who kisses your forehead. Who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats. Who holds your hand in front of his friends. Who thinks you're just as pretty without makeup on. You will know he is the one because he will apologize first even if he feels he was in the right. Because being right wont matter if you go to bed angry. When you tell a joke he will laugh out loud. He will constantly be reminding you of how much he cares and how lucky he is to have found you. He will turn to his friends and say, that's her." -Clayton Austin

MALO MONDAYS ARE NOT MALO

Every Monday night my friends and I get together for $1 Taco night at Malo Cantina in Silverlake. It's a nice tradition. Whoever can make it that Monday comes and we talk about our week and gorge ourselves on chips, burnt habanero and cream salsa, margaritas and tacos. It makes Mondays a little less unbearable. You would think I wouldn't want to let the secret out, but trust me it is already out! It can be crazy busy on Mondays, so I recommend getting there no later then 7:30...

And YES, the entire building is CHEVRON!!! Recognize that wall next to Malo that has sadly been tagged with graffiti? It was from the cover of Elliott Smith's album Figure 8. RIP Elliott!

Malo has just started a new special night, Margarita Tuesdays. $4 Margaritas starting at 7pm! What are they trying to do to me?! PS. Their margaritas are made with fresh lime juice, not that bottled stuff. Happy Tuesday!!!

WHAT TO WEAR TO COACHELLA

Coachella is quickly approaching (3 days to go)! I sadly wont be going this year, but I can still dress like I am. Here are my picks for what to wear to a music festival (All items are from my favorite website Shopbop.com)...

CITY LOVE

In 2007 Jenny Beorkrem struggled trying to find a stylish poster of her beloved city Chicago. She decided to make her own and Ork Posters was born. Since then many more cities have been added to the mix, like this one of my sweet city Los Angeles...
Or this one of my other favorite place, New York $22...
I love the graphics! I will be purchasing the Los Angeles poster for my bedroom wall. It's only $22
This one above of The Heart $18 is a new addition. It is so clever! I think I will get them both!

If you would rather wear your city pride, check out this necklace from Maya Brenner...
The California 14 carat gold with diamond necklace is $300. You can get the diamond moved to your city as long as it's on the coast. She makes one for every state, even Hawaii...
Prices range from $120-$300

RING LUST

I am nowhere near getting engaged anytime soon, but I think Nicole Richie's engagement ring is truly spectacular. The octagon of paves surrounding makes it unique and almost vintage looking.

I realized why I was so drawn to this ring. A year ago my mother wanted to get her mother's ring reset. I took her to S N Queens in the jewelry district, downtown LA. This was a place that came highly recommended to me by one of my married friends. She was right, they do really beautiful work, have a lovely selection of antique rings and are not expensive. I immediately saw a ring exactly like Nicole's, a rose cut diamond with an octagon of paves surrounding. My mom ended up getting her ring in that very setting. I truly adore that ring and have fantasies of stealing it. I think my mom would be humored to know that she and Nicole Richie have practically the same ring. Although Nicole's has slightly more carats. Good work Joel Madden! I never thought I would say that.

THE YEAR OF THE DEER

Not only this year, but the last several years I have been seeing taxidermy and faux deer heads everywhere. Like this one from Zgallerie $249.95...

I must admit I kind of love them. What is it about them? I am an animal lover and I don't even eat most meat! When did this obsession begin?

Maybe it was that night at Freeman's Restaurant in NYC...It was just so cozy and cool and delicious. Maybe it was the first time I laid eyes on the wallpaper at The Village Idiot in Los Angeles, my neighborhood gastropub...

I wouldn't feel right about having real taxidermy in my house, but the "faux" taxidermy, now that I can get behind. I am loving these tongue and cheek versions...
This Lichtenstein reminiscent pop art deer from I Heart Sammi for $200.

These "oh deer" pillows from SewEnglish for $98.75.

How about a cardboard deer? This one is from CardboardSafari for $52. They make smaller ones too for those of you with less wall space.

This stylish Ghost Antler Coat Rack from Velocityartanddesign runs $230.

I'll leave you with some beautiful images for home inspiration from my favorite magazine Domino. RIP Domino. I miss you everyday...

CYNTHIA VINCENT & EUGENIA KIM FOR TARGET

I have been a fan of Cynthia Vincent clothing a shoes for a long time. I have an embarrassing amount of 12th St by Cynthia Vincent items in my closet. I really respond to her bohemian, vintage, aesthetic. Rejoice, because she has designed a less expensive shoe line for Target that hits stores April 18th!

On the left is the Target Version only $29.99. The wedges on the right is from her more expensive line sold at Shopbop for $405. I love that her Target line is just less expensive versions of her real line.

The flats on the left are for Target. Can't seem to find a price, but I believe they are in the $20 range because nothing is above $29.99. Cute! I will take those thank you! The flats on the right will run you $195.

On the left are for Target $29.99. The ones on the right are from Shopbop for $350.

On the very same day April 18th Eugenia Kim's line for Target drops. I was in love the first moment I saw a Eugenia Kim hat. There is no one designing hats quite like her. I lust after every last one. Here is a preview of her line for Target. Loving the Havana inspiration! Prices range from $14.99-19.99

SPRING AT J. CREW

I am always happy to open my mailbox and find the newest J. Crew catalog (maybe its the photos, or the way it makes me want to wear peach).  I am even more happy to read what Dodai Stewart has to say about it on Jezebel.com. She makes me giggle and I want to be her friend.

Although I don't think I will be pulling off sock's with sandals, or a pair of overalls this spring, here are a couple of sweet things I will be purchasing...

I love these A.R. Trapp troubadour sunglasses. I can't tell if I would look ridiculous in them. I really just want to look like this model on the front of the J. Crew spring style tips.
I was thrilled to hear Fenton/Fallon was teaming up with J. Crew to create a more affordable line of jewelry. This collection has the perfect mix of punky and girlie. The Carrington crystal chains necklace is $175 and I must have it!

CHEVRON LOVE

My latest obsession is the the chevron pattern. I can not seem to get enough. It's popping up everywhere, so I know I am not alone...

Check out my most recent purchase, this Red Carter Maillot from Shopbop.com. Can I just say I am thrilled that designers are making sexy and fashionable one pieces. If only it were warm enough to wear it...
I had been eying this Zig Zag Rug from West Elm for months. I finally bought the 2'x3' for my kitchen and I love it!

These Chevron Calling Cards from Etsy are adorable. Only $24 for 48 cards. At that price everyone should have their own calling card.

I love everything about this Chevron Wall, the simplicity and of course the deer head right in the center. This was a diy project featured on Design Sponge back in January from interior designer Stephanie Sabe. It was created using contact paper believe it or not. So if you're feeling creative, you too can have this fabulous wall. Now where can I find that fantastic deer head? Sigh.
